Why I hate SEO

I look around and I see companies frantically blogging to saturate their websites with keywords. At Rhizome, you'll probably have noticed by now, we couldn't give a damn for SEO. Writing about what Heidegger meant by the 'unthought' excites me, writing about the eternal recurrence of the same excites me, writing any old nonsense about this, that and the other just to slip in some keyphrases — 'uk pr agency', public relations London', etc — makes me feel sick. In fact, I would rather the damn business went tits up than survive on search, which is the ultimate parasite, the biggest scourge of our time (and we all know this, deep down). Here, we prefer to get new clients through, guess what, word of damn mouth and recommendation. Now, back to the unthought...
